Kristín Svava Tómasdóttir

Kristín Svava Tómasdóttir is an Icelandic poet, writer and historian. She has been active on the Icelandic literary scene since 2007, when she published her first book of poetry: Blótgælur (Tender Swear Words). Kristín Svava´s poems have been translated into English, Danish, German, Finnish, Polish, Portuguese, Italian, Spanish and Arabic, and published in various magazines and anthologies. Kristín has also worked as a translator of Spanish, English and Portuguese into Icelandic. She was one of the editors of the poetry series Meðgönguljóð, published by Partus Press. Her works have earned her various literary awards, such as the Bookseller’s Award for the best poetry collection in 2007 for Blótgælur, Icelandic Women’s Prize for Fiction for Hetjusögur (2020), and the Hagþenkir Award for non-fiction for her book on the history of pornography in Iceland, published in 2018. Her latest book is Farsótt (Epidemic), published in 2022.
