The International Halldór Laxness Literary Award will be presented for the fourth time in September 2024. The Ukrainian author Andrey Kurkow received it in 2022 and on that occasion held the Halldór Laxness Lecture. The award is supported by the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Culture and Business Affairs, Business Iceland, Gljúfrasteinn: The House of Halldór Laxness, Forlagið, the publishing house of Halldór Laxness in Iceland, and the Reykjavík International Literary Festival.
The Reykjavík Literature Festival will next take place on April 23-27, 2025, marking 40 years since the festival was first held. Preparations have already begun, and a diverse and vibrant program is expected in the city. The Reykjavík Fellowship Program will take place simultaneously and applications will open in October 2024.
