Fanney has worked as a project manager at the Reykjavík Literary Festival since 2021. She attended the University of Iceland and Humboldt University in Berlin and has an MA degree in editing and publishing. Fanney has among other things worked as a freelance translator and editor, programming for national radio station Rás 1 and as a producer and editor for Storytel in Iceland.
