Kristín Eiríksdóttir

Kristín Eiríksdóttir’s first book of poetry, Kjötbærinn, was published in 2004. Even before this debut, Kristín had published in magazines and newspapers and managed to position herself as one of the most interesting literary voices of her generation.

She published more poetry before her first work of prose, the short story collection Doris Deyr. Two years later she followed up with the novel Hvítfeld to critical acclaim. Critics agreed that Kristín had a strong grasp on the form and managed to create a unique atmosphere in her works. In 2017 Kristín published a second novel, Elín, ýmislegt, which won her both the Icelandic Literary Prize and the Women’s Literary Prize, Fjöruverðlaunin and a nomination for the Nordic Literary Award. Her latest novel, Tól (2022) was an immediate success and earned her a nomination for the Icelandic Literary Prize.
