The opening remarks of the Reykjavík Literary Festival will be presented by American writer and journalist Barbara Demick. She will address the subject of writers combating authoritarianism. Barbara Demick is an award-winning American journalist and writer who is known for her articles on human rights and economic and social unrest in Eastern Europe and Asia. She previously led the Beijing office of the Los Angeles Times.
