The seminar will be conducted by the Government Delegate for the Nordic and Baltic Countries, Ms. Montserrat Riba.

Ms. Inés García is professor of German language at the Rovira i Virgili University and translator of the Icelandic Saga de Kormákr (Kormáks saga) and the novel Àngels de l’univers (Englar alheimsins) into Catalan. She was also the first person from Spain to receive the prestigious Snorri Sturluson translation grant awarded by the Icelandic government. García will discuss why she became interested in Icelandic, what led her to translate the Saga de Kormákr and the novel Àngels de l’univers, and what her views are on the similarities between Icelandic and Catalan as minority languages and what can be done to promote them.

Ms. Inés García will be joined by Mr. Ari Páll Kristinsson, senior language policy specialist at the Àrni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies and the University of Iceland.
