Joachim Schmidt is originally from Grisons in Switzerland, but has lived and worked in Reykjavík since 2007. He is a journalist and author of three novels and numerous short stories. Joachim Schmidt’s latest book Kalmann was published in German in 2020 and has been extremely well received. Kalmann takes place in the small Icelandic town of Raufarhöfn and is expected in Arabic, English, French, Slovak, Spanish and Icelandic translations.
