Esther Hendriks works as an acquiring editor at Dutch publishing house De Arbeiderspers, part of the Singel group. With over 20 years’ experience she enjoys the world of publishing every day. She is especially interested in strong literary voices in fiction and narrative, voice driven non-fiction, established authors but also debutants. The Singel group works closely together, so for other imprints she looks for more genres. While reading she asks herself: will this fire enthusiasm, widen the horizon? Does it inspire a broad audience? Her list includes international authors such as Joan Didion, Annie Ernaux, Louise Glück, Cormac McCarthy, Angela Merkel, George Orwell and Rikka Pulkkinen.
