
Erika Fatland is a Norwegian anthropologist who has gained great popularity for her narrative non-fiction works. She has written seven books that have won numerous awards and been translated into more than twenty languages. She first gained attention in 2015 with the book Sovietistan, where she recounts her travels through the former republics of the Soviet Union that end in -stan. In her 2021 book Grensen (The Border), she describes her travels around Russia, journeying through all the countries that share a border with Russia.
