On September 13, Reykjavík hosted a memorable ceremony for the prestigious Halldór Laxness International Literary Prize 2024, celebrating the remarkable contributions of Salman Rushdie to world literature. The event marked the fourth edition of this award, which honors writers who, like Laxness, transform the narrative art.
Rushdie was recognized for his courageous and innovative storytelling that resonates across borders. The unanimous selection of the prize committee, chaired by Stella Soffía Jóhannesdóttir, highlights Rushdie’s ability to explore cultural identities and create narratives of global significance.
