To mark the release of the poetry collection Mara kemur í heimsókn (Mara Pays a Visit) by the award-winning poet Natasha S., a celebratory gathering will be held at the bookstore Skálda at 4 PM on Friday, April 25th. The event forms part of the off-venue programme of the Reykjavík International Literary Festival and offers an ideal opportunity to warm up for the evening’s official events. Refreshments will be served, and all are warmly welcome.

Mara kemur í heimsókn recounts a return to Russia after a prolonged absence, while also offering a reckoning with the country’s political and cultural landscape.

Natasha S. made a memorable debut with her first poetry collection, Máltaka á stríðstímum (Acquisition of Language in Times of War), for which she received the Tómas Guðmundsson Literary Prize. She has also been a powerful advocate for poets of foreign origin in Iceland, and has edited both the poetry anthology Pólifónía af erlendum uppruna (Polyphony of Foreign Origin) and the essay collection Skáldreki.
