German poets Wolfgang Schiffer and Dinçer Güçyeter have, over the past ten years – alongside their own writing – been involved in the extensive publication of works by Icelandic poets in Germany, in translations by Wolfgang and Jón Thór Gíslason. Dinçer’s publishing house, Elif Verlag, is the largest publisher of Icelandic poetry outside Iceland.
Poetry bridges go both ways, and it is therefore a pleasure to announce that this April, Icelandic translations of books by both Dinçer and Wolfgang will be published. The books will appear in a new book series from Tunglið Publishing, entitled Svarthol.
These German foster brothers will answer questions in an informal discussion with Gauti Kristmannsson about poetry and publishing at 3:00 PM on the first day of summer, April 24. The event is open to all and will take place at Gallerí Fold, Rauðarárstígur 14, in connection with an art exhibition featuring works by Jón Thór. This event is part of the “off-venue” program of the Reykjavík International Literary Festival.
