16:00An exhibition of photographs and video excerpts from Jarðsetning (Interment) by Anna María Bogadóttir will be on display at Slökkvistöðin from April 24 to May 4. In conjunction with the literary festival, the full-length film Jarðsetning, which dialogues with the author’s book of the same name, will be screened. Following the screening, Einar Falur Ingólfsson will engage in a conversation with Anna María about the work, in which the demolition of the Iðnaðarbankinn building on Lækjargata becomes the stage for a wider narrative of community and individual experience.
We are invited into the building, where we encounter the force of machinery and the power of nature, witnessing the bank’s disintegration and dismantling against the backdrop of everyday city life. The photographs in the exhibition capture moments within a continuous cycle—openings and closures, materials and structures that are at once coarse and delicate, strong and fragile—in a work that signals a definitive ending, yet also an inevitable beginning.
