Bragi \u00d3lafsson is a prolific writer and musician. From 1987-1992 he was a member of the pop group <\/span>The Sugarcubes<\/span><\/i> which toured extensively throughout the world and recorded three albums. He is a co-owner of the record company Smekkleysa sm.hf (Bad Taste Ltd.), founded in 1986, which publishes popular music, jazz, modern Icelandic music and historical recordings from Iceland.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bragi’s novels, <\/span>Hv\u00edldardagar<\/span><\/i> (Days Off) and <\/span>G\u00e6lud\u00fdrin<\/span><\/i> (The Pets) were shortlisted for the two main literature prizes in Iceland. The novel <\/span>Samkv\u00e6misleikir<\/span><\/i> (Party Games) received the DV prize for literature in March 2005 and was chosen the best novel in 2004 by the staff of Icelandic bookstores. The novel <\/span>Sendiherrann<\/span><\/i> (The Ambassador) also got the booksellers award for the best novel in 2006, was shortlisted for the Icelandic Literature Prize and nominated for the Nordic Literature Prize. Bragi has also been nominated by the Icelandic Drama Prize, Gr\u00edman as playwright of the year. His books have been translated into numerous languages, including Danish, English, German and French. His most recent novel is <\/span>Gegn gangi leiksins<\/span><\/i> (2022).<\/span><\/p>\n
