Tapio Koivukari is a Finnish author, poet, short-storyist, and playwright. Koivukari resided in Iceland for many years, and is an important translator of Icelandic into Finnish. Two of his books have been published in Icelandic, one of which told the tale of the Spanish massacre of Icelanders in the West Fjords in 1615. His book, The Dream Narrator, discusses the spiritual and emotional state of the Finnish people during World War II. For that book, he received the prestigious Runeberg Prize in Finland.
