Screening: Rosewater (Jon Stewart)

Rosewater is a 2014 drama detailing Maziar Bahari’s arrest and imprisonment in Iran, where he was reporting on the 2009 election protests. Written and directed by popular American TV host Jon Stewart, this film is based on Bahari’s memoir Then They Came for Me (2011). Bahari’s appearance on Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show in 2009 was part of the basis for his arrest, and he was detained for 118 days while his pregnant fiancé anxiously awaited his release. Rosewater will be screened in cooperation with the Journalism is not a Crime project, which documents and publicizes the arrests of journalists by the Iranian government and provides legal and psychological assistance to these prisoners.
