Roy Jacobsen


Roy Jacobsen is one of Norway's most celebrated writers. His debut was the short-story collection Prison Life (n. Fangeliv) in 1982 which won Tarjei Vesaas‘ debutantpris. Jacobsen has written novels, short-stories and a children's book but he also writes for film, television and the theatre and wrote, along with director Nicolas Winding Refn, the script of the Danish film Valhalla Rising.

His breakthrough novel,The Conquerors (n. Seierherrene) published in 1991, was a massive hit, nominated for the Nordic Council´s Literature Prize and has been translated into many languages.

Jacobsen list of awards and recognitions is long – among them another nomination for the Nordic Council‘s Literature Prize for Frost (2004) and he was the first Norwegian nominated for the International Man Booker Prize in 2017 for the Unseen (De usynlige).
