Hannelore Cayre

The very versatile Hannelore Cayre is a writer, actress, scriptwriter, film director and last but not least a criminal lawyer at the Paris court of Appeal. Not surprisingly her crime novels are celebrated for their believable portrayal of the inner workings of the French judicial system.

Her first novel, Commis d’office was published in 2004 and filmed in France in 2009. In 2017 Cayre received the acclaimed European Polar award for her fifth crime novel, La Daronne. La Daronne has been a great success in France and is currently being translated into several languages – the Icelandic translation by Hrafnhildur Guðmundsdóttir will be out in April. The book is currently being filmed by director Jean-Paul Salomé and starring French actress Isabelle Huppert.
